The third day will start out with the gold medal winning Winemaker, Robert Rex, of Deerfield Ranch Winery. Robert and his wife, P.J. own and operate the beautiful Deerfield Ranch Winery. Robert will conduct the private tour of the winery where he will explain and demonstrate the art of wine making and blending of different varietals. Robert has received numerous gold medals for his Old Vine Zinfandels, Merlots, Meritages and Sauvignon Blancs. A truly extraordinary and rare experience with an outstanding winemaker and an opportunity for our guests to experience blended wines. Again, another catered lunch at Deerfield Ranch followed by tastings at a number of small family wineries where our guests will experience excellent wines rarely found outside of California.
Thursday’s tour will be at the Simi Winery in the Alexander Valley Appellation of Sonoma. Here, Chef Mary Evely, author of “The Vintners Table Cookbook” a Julia Childs award wining cookbook, will conduct a seminar on the pairings of foods with wines. The private seminar will take place at the Simi Winery in their own restaurant under the redwoods, an ideal setting for an ideal educational experience. At times, due to Mary’s busy schedule, the seminar may be conducted by one of her able assistant Chefs. Thursday afternoon will consist of a catered lunch on the Simi property followed by tastings at other outstanding wineries in the Alexander Valley.
All tours are private and will consist of no more than 20 people. We have limited our space to this number so that this remarkable experience can be more fully enjoyed by all.
Grape to Glass offers a number of different accommodations. Included in the price of the tour is a four night stay, (Sunday through Thursday), at the Sonoma Valley Inn, a Best Western Hotel, based upon double occupancy. Lodgings can be upgraded to either MacArthur Place or the Sonoma Mission Inn for an additional cost. Similar properties may be substituted based upon availability. All lodgings are located near the scenic and historic Sonoma Square, which offers shopping and art galleries as well as a number of local restaurants.
Transportation from San Francisco to your hotel can be arranged as well as any side tours or additional time in the wine country or the San Francisco Bay area.
