The private vineyard tour takes place at the distinctive  Benziger Family Wineries located in Glen Ellen, Sonoma County.  The private tour educates our guests on the growing techniques used for different varietals and advanced ecological viticulture.  

Following your private tour you will experience a private tasting and a catered lunch under the redwoods at Benziger on the beautiful wine terrace. Our tour continues with  private tastings at some of Sonoma’s most exclusive wineries.

The second day begins at the Franciscan Winery in Napa Valley where our group will have an exclusive winery tour.  During this tour, the group will learn what happens to the grape from the crush pad, to the barrel, to the bottle.  You will have the opportunity to barrel taste wines in the aging process in both French and American Oak as well as an exclusive tasting of Quintessa.

The private tasting will be held at the Quintessa Vineyard overlooking the Rutherford Appellation and the Napa Valley.  After returning to the Franciscan Winery, a second private tasting  will be conducted of the excellent wines of Franciscan, Mount Veeder and Estancia.  Following a catered lunch, tastings will take place at other Napa Valley wineries.

Thursday’s tour will be at the Simi Winery in the Alexander Valley Appellation of Sonoma.  Here, Chef Mary Evely, author of “The Vintners Table Cookbook” a Julia Childs award wining cookbook, will conduct a seminar on the pairings of foods with wines.  The private seminar will take place at the Simi Winery in their own restaurant under the redwoods, an ideal setting for an ideal educational experience.  At times, due to Mary’s busy schedule, the seminar may be conducted by one of her able assistant Chefs.  Thursday afternoon will consist of a catered lunch on the Simi property followed by tastings at other outstanding wineries in the Alexander Valley.        

All tours are private and will consist of no more than 20 people.  We have limited our space to this number so that this remarkable experience can be more fully enjoyed by all. 

Grape to Glass offers a number of different accommodations.  Included in the price of the tour is a four night stay, (Sunday through Thursday), at the Sonoma Valley Inn, a Best Western Hotel, based upon double occupancy.  Lodgings can be upgraded to either MacArthur Place or the Sonoma Mission Inn for an additional cost. Similar properties may be substituted based upon availability.  All lodgings are located near the scenic and historic Sonoma Square, which offers shopping and art galleries as well as a number of local restaurants.

Transportation from San Francisco to your hotel can be arranged as well as any side tours or additional time in the wine country or the San Francisco Bay area.

I grew up in a Christian home and was blessed to have both my parents in my life. I have an older brother and one older sister. We are a close family with morals and values, and together we truly are a wonderful family; my parents were the pillars in our lives, and provided so much love and support. They taught us to always root for the underdog, and always care about your fellow human being.

 On June 3, 2008 my mother unexpectedly passed away from a brain aneurysm. As a family we decided to donate my mother’s organs. Though it was very sad and difficult to say goodbye, we had peace knowing she was still giving even after death. It was in this tragic experience that I witnessed how amazing the human spirit is. Though we were hurting in our grief, the nursing staff did the best they could to make our stay pleasant. The gentle demeanor the nurses empathized with us is what truly inspired me to pursue my goal of being a nurse.

My mother taught us to always see the good in people. Being a nurse allows for all sorts of interactions with different people experience different stages of life. As a nurse I will see the sick, the dying, and the living and also witness the suffering that families go through. I lost someone dear in my life, and though it was a dark time, there was a light; this experience will allow me to give others hope and inspire them to not give up. Life continues, nonetheless, and we often have a choice on which direction it takes.

Yesterday, I wake up with my pug next to me. She usually sleeps by my feet, but on Saturday night she slept by my chest. She would rest her head on my shoulders, neck, and we cuddled all night. She usually wakes up around 6-6:30am to go potty, but on Sunday morning she slept a bit longer and we both woke up at 8am. We gave each other pugs n kisses before hopping out of bed. At that moment I had this big overwhelming feeling of happiness. I was so thankful to have Mia in my life. She came into my life when I needed her the most, and being apart from her made me realize that I need her in my life.

I let Mia out to potty like I do every morning and after breakfast I look outside the back sliding door to check on the Mia. I notice she is chewing on something and I smile thinking it’s a toy. I look closely and that toy has a super long tail, then get closer and realized that that tail has feet and blood!! I cannot believe my eyes, all I can say is “OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! MIA IS CHEWING ON A DEAD RAT!!” I was so shocked I didn’t even think to tell her “NO MIA! NO! DROP IT!” My sister runs to the sliding door and yells, “No Mia!” She drops the dead animal and we realize it’s a BABY POSSUM!! I rush her inside to give her a bath, clean her little folds with medicated, prescribed facial wipes, I brush her teeth with prescribed toothpaste, and I clean her ears with medicated, prescribed ear solution.
